NIKA2 technical run #33 / 17-24 September 2019
Back to the NIKA2 Run 33 main page
Goals
- Continue commissioning of the new acquisition software (DAQ v3), after June's fix on tuning and few other "minor" things.
- New sweep to define new tones comb parameter (closed window + open on good sky if possible).
- Use the external calibrator: tests scans on/off, then rest of the run on (if no deterioration of data: from now on always use it).
- Continue polarization commissioning (help of calibrator for leakage and so on / synchronization / calibration).
- Scans - mainly beam maps - in total power & polar to acquire statistics for DAQ v3 commissioning.
- Use the upgraded PIMP to characterize in situ NIKA2 instrumental band passes, with possible dependence on polarization angle.
- Possible tests on tuning parameters.
Before the run
Before the run, it is necessary to prepare the DAQ v3 and the read-data library for the new tests, i.e. some issues need to be fixed before starting.
The main issue is the error in the transfer of a tuning variable between two modules of the DAQ code (see Alain's explanations at the NIKA2 joint meeting, May 28th, 2019).
Time jumps have been solved at the level of the read-data library and the new version needs to be "activated", i.e. copied where in the running version used by the make-imbf scripts.
If needed, short time slots might be allocated for DAQ verification purposes before the run on Sep 6 (during the IRAM school week Sep 7-10 only DAQ v1 will be used by students) (contact Carsten/Stefano/Samuel/etc for details).
Observers and Schedule
All the people who will participate to the run must appear in the table below; each one must inform Samuel and contact Laura to reserve rooms in Granada and at the telescope. For those who travel on IRAM funds, contact Samuel; see also the NIKA2 travel rules.
Staff of the run in September 2019: table of the nights spent at the observatory for the NIKA2 collaboration members participating to the run (T = Tuesday, S = Saturday, 1 = night scheduled at the telescope, g = night in Granada office).
