NIKA2 run #7 December 2016
Goals of the run
Continue the commissioning started in run 5 and continued in run 6:
Perform test observations and any hardware configuration change possible outside the cryostat (since it's sealed and cold) which could allow investigating the problems we see from the data analysis of the previous runs: WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT AND DEFINE THESE POSSIBLE TESTS ASAP.
Still stack more beam maps at various focus (Z,Y,X), various elevation and various scan orientations (standard az-el, but also el-az) to increase the statistics on what we already have.
- Test the external calibrator mounted on a bar in front of the vertex window.
- Continue to monitor regularly secondary calibrators to check stability of the instrument gains.
- Continue any necessary work on detectors working point, electronics, acquisition, synchronizations, data files...
- In parallel to beam maps, test deep integration on well known sources: the goal should be to show reproducibility in reaching the rms expected after one hour of integration.
- If beam maps statistics sufficient: map extended features (already done with complex secondary calibrators), and at least 1 showcase : can be a nearby galaxy NGC 3938 or NGC6946 (left/right 10 arcmin diameter circle) J2000 coordinates for NGC6946 are: 20:34:52.3 +60:09:14
.
- If beam maps statistics sufficient: start polarization commissioning [that should be postponed to next run].

Schedule of the run
Telescope Schedule ~14h/day Observations.
We've actually observed from 10pm on the 9th to 12am on the 10th. We will observe from 10pm on the 10th to 1pm on the 11th.
All the persons who will participate to the run must appear in the table below; each one must have informed at least Samuel, Esther (for the rooms in Granada and at the telescope), Beatrice (for the ones who fly on IRAM funds, see NIKA2 travel rules).
Staff of the run: table of the nights spent at the observatory for the NIKA2 collaboration members participating to the run (T = Tuesday, S = Saturday, 1 = night scheduled at the telescope, g = night in Granada office.
First day at the telescope: Tuesday, October 25, 2016.
