NIKA2 run #6 October 2016

Back to the NIKA2 run 6 page

Goals of the run

_Stack a maximum of beam maps at various focus (Z,Y,X), various elevation and various scan orientations (standard az-el, but also el-az)._
For this task the most efficient will be to use a maximum of maps in a minimum of time, that's why we strongly recommend to use exclusively the PaKo script @beammap1scan99sub. This beam maps is done in 1 scan with 99 subscans, using 4.8" steps between subscans (this is just a bit smaller than the Nyquist criteria for the 1mm band, completely sufficient for our purpose as proven in run 5), which takes "only" 25 minutes (versus 45 for the old 3 scans way of doing beam maps).
I (SL) modified this script @beammap1scan99sub so that it can accept 3 options: the default without special letter or "a" (for azimuth scaning direction) or "l" (for low elevation) makes subscans in azimuth, steps in elevation, at 65"/s which limits the max elevation acceptable to 60° ; "h" (for high elevation) is similar but with a scanning speed of 40"/s allowing to scan up to 70° elevation, but takes 40 minutes ; "e" makes subscans in elevation, steps in azimuth, at 65"/s. E.g.:

pako> @beammap1scan99sub e

Note: the script @beammap1scan makes a beam map using 3.5" steps as the previous 3 scans strategy, but this time in 1 scan only with 140 steps. This takes about 35 minutes. We will use this scan latter for refinements, once we will have enough data with the faster 99 subscans script.

These beam maps are the highest priority, but all the goals listed and described in run 5 are still valid.

Schedule of the run

Telescope Schedule 24h16h/day Observations (New since mid October).

All the persons who will participate to the run must appear in the table below; each one must have informed at least Samuel, Esther (for the rooms in Granada and at the telescope), Beatrice (for the ones who fly on IRAM funds, see NIKA2 travel rules).

Staff of the run: table of the nights spent at the observatory for the NIKA2 collaboration members participating to the run (T = Tuesday, S = Saturday, 1 = night scheduled at the telescope, g = night in Granada office.
First day at the telescope: Tuesday, October 25, 2016.
