NIKA2 run #3 January 2016

Back to the NIKA2 run 3 page

Goals of the run

  • Installation of new NIKEL boards => the complete 20 multiplexed tones lines (4+8+8) will be read fron now on !

  • Redo all necessary initial tests procedures for this new electronics (and the few boards kept from previous runs): instrument response, data acquisition, pointing, focus, geometry (identification of resonances with pixels locations on the arrays)
  • Priority: check data & flags constitency & synchronization. Raw, FIT for Pipeline, IMBFIT.

  • Absolute priority: understand the beams, in particular the 10% side lobes while 2% is expected ==> Many beam maps, at various focus. Beside will provide data to monitor kid stability, photometry, sensitivity and time line features, and get statistics on these parameters

  • Skydips
  • A session of KIDs working point optimization
  • Continue observations of many calibrators to monitor our sensitivity and photometry
  • Depending on the completion of previous items, go for more advanced characterizations, like extended features and polarization

The detailled characterization plan established for run 1 is still valid, and ongoing: http://www.iram.fr/wiki/nika2/index.php/NIKA2_Run1_30m_CharacterizationPlan A more summarized and concise version will be written as soon as possible (SL).

Preparation of the run

Telescope Schedule weeks 0 & 1 Telescope Schedule weeks 2 & 3

Astronomer of Duty

Staff of the run: table of the nights spent at the observatory for the NIKA2 collaboration members participating to the run (T means Tuesday, S means Saturday, first night with NIKA2 staff is Tuesday 29 September, last night is Monday 9 November, 1 stands for night scheduled at the telescope, p stands for possible extension in case of problem with the cryostat). In italic: not at the telescope but on watch for possible remote help or intervention on the software and/or remote control.
