7th GISMO Pool daily logs
Tue 24th Feb
16:30 UT: Subreflector in place after the holography session. GISMO tuning done successfully.
17:00 UT: Focus corrections checked: Fz=-1.5, Fx=-0.4, Fy=0.0
17:30 UT: Pointing on Uranus: FWHM=19.6", Flux=16.7 Jy. Starting the observations of project 223-14 (SZ).
20:00 UT: Stopped due to bad weather conditions.
Wed 25th Feb
05:00 UT: Resuming the observations. Wind close to the limit.
12:00 UT: Stopped due to bad weather (high wind, thick clouds).
14:30 UT: Problems during the recycling with the He heater pump. The detectors did not reach their temperature of operation. Apparently the cause was some missconnected cable.
Thu 26th Feb
15:00 UT: Resuming the observations.
17:00 UT: Stopping again due to bad weather.
21:00 UT: Resuming the observations.
Fri 27th Feb
12:00 UT: Recycling.
14:00 UT: Recycling done. Resuming the observations.
17:00 UT: Stopped due to high wind.
23:00 UT: Observing again.
Sat 28th Feb
01:00 UT: Stopped (tau~1).
07:00 UT: Observing.
10:00 UT: Recycling.
12:30 UT: Recycling done. Resuming the observations under poor conditions.
Sun 1st Mar
11:00 UT: Recycling. Some discrepancies between Johannes' instructions (crate and tower must be switched off during the whole process) and the ones given to the operators (switch off the crate only during the refilling).
Mon 2nd Mar
06:00 UT: GRB triggered! Unfortunately, the opacity was too high (0.5) and the elevation too low (<30). Raw data were sent to Attila to check if something can be done.
11:00 UT: Recycling.
Tue 3rd Mar
07:00 UT: GISMO ran out of He before expected. Recycled done but only 30 more minutes of data (on the GRB from yesterday) were collected
09:30 UT: Bye GISMO. It's been a ride!
