Download 1 Dear colleagues,

From now on MASSA is available in mrt-lx3. This software is intended to do the same things as CLASS. With this, you can easily reduce single spectrum and also work with OFT maps. Some of its best advantages are easy LTE analysis and fast line identification, since it allows to work with several catalogues and plot the lines on the observed spectrum just with a few clicks!

* For running MASSA type "massa.sh" in mrt-lx3.

* Then, pull down the menu marked "File" and select the "Open File" option.

* After selecting your file, the analysis window appears, and you can start to work on the spectra. What you will see is:
- Top: The toolbar with several buttons with some of the actions you can do (also see the Menubar with the "Operation", "Edit" and "View" options).
- Right: for visualizing the spectrum.
- Upper left: where you can define the different parameters for each operations. It is different for each operation.
- Lower left: spectra index with a list of the original, modified and new generated spectra

Just explore! MASSA is interactive and only the mouse is needed for almost everything.

* If you are, for example, interested on identifying lines, click on the "search lines" buttom (drawing with the SiO line). Then select the catalogue you prefer and the species. If wanted also the frequency and energies can be delimited. Click on "search" and a table will be opened with the found lines. If you select one (or more) of these, it/they will be plotted on the spectrum. In this table, you can choose which line paremeters should be shown. For example, the "spectral" option shows all the parameters read from the catalogue, and the "fit" and "physical" options allows to do LTE analysis of the selected lines. This line table is also easy to edit (click with right buttom everywhere on the table).

There are a lot of possibilities! you can find a clear and complete User Manual here:
