<!> You should use Iceweasel(=firefox) to open the database. The current version of Konqueror seems to have problems.

How to start the pool session with the NCS

Starting the gopool daemon

This daemon is used to upload the heterodyne scans. Ask the operator to do the following:

  • - ssh -X mrt@mrt-lx3
        > gopool

Login at the control room

  • - Open a session at mrt-lx4: pool/passwd (ask operator or AoD for passwd)
        - Open a session at mrt-lx7: flexible/passwd (ask operator or AoD for passwd)

Start Pako in mrt-lx4:0.0

  • - Go to "paKo" virtual desktop.
        - Open a paKo terminal (same passwd as for the pool account).
        - > goPako (setup the pako session).
        - > pakitoDisplay (open a window with the paKo output).
        - > pako (enter in the paKo program).

Start the observation monitoring in mrt-lx4:0.1

  • - Go to "ObsMonitor" virtual desktop.
        - Open a paKo terminal (same passwd as for the pool account).
        - > antDisplay (start the observation monitoring) {X} Deprecated
        - Open the web browser konqueror and open various Tab at the following URI (should be done on the Operator Screen):
           - file:/ncsServer/mrt/ncs/monitor/scanInfo.html (Job Informations)
           - file:/ncsServer/mrt/ncs/observationQueues (look at the pool directory for the job submitted)
           - http://mrt-lx1/mainWiki (internal wiki with informations for NCS, Pool, etc: Use it as a feedback for NCS and Pool)

Start Xephem

  • - In the "Xephem" virtual desktop (mrt-lx4:0.0) open the xephem sw.
        - All the .edb files for the different projects should be available from there.

Open the pool database sessions in mrt-lx7:0.1

  • - Ih the virtual desktop "DB Pool" and "DB LST" open a mozilla web broswer and logon to the IRAM database with the account: observer/passwd (ask operator or AoD for passwd)
        - Open in the virtual desktop "BoloLog" a pool database and the automatic BoloLog for bolometer observations.
        - If the observations are heterodyne, open the PakoLog sheet (OpenOffice) according to the project.

Start the Mopsic monitoring

  • - Go to the virtual desktop "Mopsic Monitor" in mrt-lx7:0.1
         - In a terminal connect to: > ssh flexible@mrt-lx3 (ask for paswd)
         - > cd monitor
         - > mopsic @monitor (should appear in mrt-lx10:0.1). WARNIG: if a fits file is corrupted, it stops. Just restart it
         - In mrt-lx7:0.0 in the virtual desktop "MonitorAcc" open a terminal and connect to: > ssh flexible@mrt-lx3 (ask for paswd)

For technical purposse:

     - > cd monacc
     - > mopsic @monacc (start a monitor to check possible acceleration problems with the bolometer).
     - In the "Mopsic" virtual desktop you can open a mopsic session at flexible@mrt-lx3 and > cd monitor; mopsic (Useful to reduce pointing and focus)

Meteo Monitoring

  • - In the virtual desktop "Taumeter" and "Meteosat" in mrt-lt70.0 open the monitor at the URI:
           - http://www.inm.es/web/infmet/satel/sespan.html

Start Mira & Mopsic

  • Mira:
        - Open a pako terminal in the pool account.
        - cd mira
        - mira
        - mira> @init ! Look at the Mira manual then.

        Mopsic:
        - Open a pako terminal in the pool account
        - ssh flexible@mrt-lx3 (Ask the Operator or AoD for the password)
        - mopsic ! look at the Mopsic cookbook then. Don´t open Mopsic inside the monitor directory if another Mopsic is running there; when 2 mopsics are running at the same time in this directory, it cause some problems. To avoid this, a link of the imbfitsDir was created in the flexible home directory.
