Notes for the next re-commissioning campaign(s)

Following the results of the July 12-13th, 2025 session, and the 2025/07/16 NIKA2 meeting, here come some notes and suggestions about how to proceed with the next re-commissioning time.

Comments and impressions by SB about the last re-commissioning session

Current PIIC DAFs status

The run 74 beam maps have been processed with PIIC (see this page) and new DAFs RPPs have been produced for Ar1 and Ar3. These new run 74 DAFs are sub-optimal: Ar3 is missing a significant number of KIDs and both Ar1 and Ar3 were not optimally focused. Nevertheless, these DAFs RPPs have all three arrays aligned with the central reference KID (KID 363 of Ar2 - run 68 sweep -, in PIIC conventions, see run 72 daily reports and data reduction).

The DAFs used during the observations of run 73 and 74, are also still available. The advantage of these former DAFs is that Ar1 and Ar3 have all KIDs. The drawback is that the RPPs of Ar1 and Ar3 were produced during run 72 and therefore have an offset with respect to the RPPs of Ar2 (based on run 68).

I have installed the run 74 DAFs as default for PIIC at Pico Veleta. When setting up the PIIC environmental variables with gagpiic and starting PIIC, the environment variable $MOPSIC_DAFS points by default to /sw/gildas/mopsic/dafs.

The formed DAFs that have an offset of Ar1 and Ar3 with respect to Ar2, but include all Ar1 and Ar3 KIDs and have a better quality of the Ar1 and Ar3 geometry are instead stored in the directory /local/users/flexible/reduce/dafs_bck/dafs_local_tmp_run73_ar2_extended/.
