Correlation between the instrumental noise and the opacity
- Since the detector resonances are larger under large optical load, we expect the instrumental noise to be larger whene the opacity is larger.
- In order to check this effect, we select scans for which the opacity span a a range as large as possible. Then we decorrelate the noise of each detector with all the other KIDs of the same array, such that the left over noise is perfectly decorrelated (i.e. photon noise or instrumental noise, but we are probably not photon noise limited yet). We then measure the standard deviation of each timeline. We select the best 10 detector and compute the averaged standard deviation of the noise. Finally, we plot this value against the opacity.
