Information on Observations with the 30m

Select the XFCE Session
login the project
open a terminal (Applications Menu -> Terminal Emulator)
if the promt is not shown properly go to Edit -> Profile preferences -> Colors and uncheck the option "Use colors from system theme"
be sure that you are in the home directory (just type cd)
change to mrt-lx1 (ssh -X mrt-lx1)
type 'gopako', 'pakodisplay', and 'pako'

open a terminal (see above)
be sure that you are in the home directory (type 'cd')
change to mrt-lx2 or mrt-lx3 (ssh -X mrt-lx2; ssh -X mrt-lx3)
type 'cd mira'
type 'MIRA'
Some tricks:
- type '@demo' to load all the data
- type 'ftd' to load the data of that day (ftd means find today)

ssh -X met-astro ! mrt-lx2
ssh mrt-lx2 xephem
edit ~/Desktop/XEphem.desktop
- Change the line Exec=ssh mrt-lx3 ~/.xephem/xephem.exe to Exec=ssh mrt-lx3 xephem
Change the first line of the user configuration file. e.g.
- ~/.xephem/XEphem change the first line so that it reads:
- XEphem.ShareDir: /usr/share/xephem
After this change you should be able to display the telescope position on you xephem-map.
- If not, check that python /ncsServer/mrt/ncs/tools/azElToXephem.py is running on mrt-lx3.
