NIKA2 run #10 April 2017

Back to the NIKA2 run 10 page

Goals of the run

Continue the commissioning (see previous runs for references):

  • Check the alignment has not changed (with last run's pointing model, pointing offsets should be typically <10" for all coordinates).

  • As previous runs perform again the scans which are the most useful for commissioning: stack more beam maps at various focus (Z,Y,X), various elevation and various scan orientations.

  • In particular we lack statistics on beam maps focus sequences starting at best average focus (not best central focus !).
  • Continue to monitor regularly secondary calibrators to check stability of the instrument gains.
  • Continue any necessary work on detectors working point, electronics, acquisition, synchronizations, data files... monitoring possible effects on the beam maps.
  • Continue all necessary calibration scans (pointing, focus, skydips...)
  • Depending on time and observing conditions: few polarization observations to test polar system is still OK (not commissioning it) ; few scans with external calibrator to test the system and get better data than previously to continue developing this solution (not commissioning it).

See all the goals listed and described in run 5 and related links for more details.

Science verification:

  • Projects proposed by volunteers from the collaboration: in priority M99 (Ruth), PSZ2 G144.83+25.11 (Florian), GJ526 (Jean-François).

  • Repeat Pluto observations that where done last run (this is a very good case given the various sources present in the field from last run maps).
  • Secondary calibrators.

Schedule of the run

All the persons who will participate to the run must appear in the table below; each one must have informed at least Samuel, Esther (for the rooms in Granada and at the telescope), Beatrice (for the ones who fly on IRAM funds, see NIKA2 travel rules).

Staff of the run: table of the nights spent at the observatory for the NIKA2 collaboration members participating to the run (T = Tuesday, S = Saturday, 1 = night scheduled at the telescope, g = night in Granada office).
