NIKA run #7 January 2014

Back to the NIKA run 7

Goals of the run

Test the final NIKA configuration on the sky with Winter conditions. Validate the pipeline. Test the polarization setup on the sky. 56h total. About 8h/day. Leave the cryostat cold and ready for the scientific run (#8) in February 2014.

  1. Characterization of the final NIKA prototype configuration (5h)
  2. Perform a new pointing model starting from the old NIKA Run6 one. (5h)
  3. Validate all sequences (pointing, focus, skydip, zigzag otf map, Lissajou map). (5h)
  4. Check the sensitivity and time estimator.(5h)
  5. Perform some science demonstration observations on a best effort basis: Check the noise integration for 6 hours oriented towards deep field measurements, Establish standard faint source photometry (6h mostly high-z faint sources (10-40 mJy).
  6. Perform on-sky measurements of polarization at 1 and 2 mm. Use planets, quasars, the Crab Nebula, CasA, and Orion. (24h).
