This directory contains the LaTeX2e support for the new 2001
Astronomy and Astrophysics journal.

In order to ensure the smoothest transition for both authors and publishers,
Springer-Verlag has kindly granted EDP Sciences the permission to use the
LaTeX macro package that they developed for A&A Main journal.

Only minor changes have been incorporated between the Springer class (1999)
and the version 5.02 (june 2000) for the new journal.
Please, note:
- that the abstract is now a command (\abstract{...}) and not an environment,
so the \maketitle command has to be placed after the abstract and the keywords
- that the only needed fonts are Computer Modern Font (LaTeX standart fonts)
- and that the command \thesaurus does no longer exist.

%%% Version 5.1 of A&A
The differences between the 5.02 version and the 5.1 (june 2001) version are
listed here:
- the date of the proof version is added at the top of the first page for the
authors
- the top margin changed
- it's possible now to have more than one paragraph in the \abstract{} command
- a command \headnote{} exists now to write the subtitle Research Note
(see the documentation)
- a "onecolumn" option has been added, reserved for papers with large Mathematical
formulae (see the documentation)
- to perform the compatibility with Natbib and BibTeX, the list of journals
has been added in the class (\aj, \arra, \apj ...)
- and a aa.bst (fully conform of A&A bibliography style) is now distributed.

The following files are part of the macro package AA
